Use the Genealogy Collection

The library has a collection of genealogical materials including local history and other items of interest.

Our Meeting Room contains our genealogical collection.  We offer a variety of materials on local Marcus and Cherokee county histories, including cemetery walks, plat maps, local history, family history, and more.  Most items in this collection are available for in-library use only, although copies can be made (fee applies) and you may certainly take photographs of materials for personal use.

Back-issues of the Marcus News from 1910 - 2014 are available online at: Marcus News Archives

The Marcus Historical Society also offers a large variety of local history items and information, and is also available for genealogical research and private tours of their facility west of the fairgrounds.

This resource is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by State Library of Iowa.
