During and after World War II, over 25,000 Prisoners of War from Germany, Italy, and Japan lived in Iowa.  Two main camps at Algona and Clarinda also supported an addition 15 branch camps.  Iowa historian and author Linda Betsinger McCann has researched these camps, the prisoners, and interviewed people who worked in and knew the prisoners.  She will share her information and stories.  Please join us!

There is no charge to attend this program.  Linda will bring copies of her books for purchase for those interested.  This promises to be a fascinating program on a little-known part of Iowa history.  Linda is a warm, engaging, and personable speaker who welcomes questions and anecdoteds from attendees.

This resource is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by State Library of Iowa.
